Ss. Cyril & Methodius Parish is a Roman Catholic Slovak Community
that welcomes all who wish to learn about, embrace and actively practice the Roman Catholic Religion.
As a “family of families”, we are dedicated to the propagation and deepening of our Catholic faith.
This is facilitated through the teaching of, and adherence to,
the Magisterium and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church.

RCIA- The RCIA program at Ss. Cyril and Methodius seeks to instruct candidates in the Catholic Faith that comes to us from Christ through the Apostles as it is faithfully preserved by the Magisterium of the Church. Our program provides an opportunity for those who are open to the Holy Spirit to grow in Faith leading to a life-changing conversion of heart that calls us to lead a life in imitation of Christ. Particular attention is given to Sacred Scripture and developing a personal relationship with Christ. As a part of the Body of Christ, we participate in the life of the Trinity, “the love that never ends.” The reward is great, for the way of Christ leads to eternal life and contrary ways lead to destruction. Bereavement Ministry – Participates in Vigil services, funeral Holy Masses, etc., to assist those who have had a death in their family and also organizes annual parish Memorial Service. Fr. Hardon’s Home-study Adult Catechism Courses – These courses are part of the requirements for anyone interested in becoming a Marian Catechist. You are encouraged to buy your study materials in advance if you wish to study ahead of time. Please call Eternal Life at 1-800-842-2871 for study materials. If two of you are taking the course, let them know so they can give you an additional answer booklet for a modest fee. Non-parishioners are invited to join.

Frassati Society – This group is based on the life and example of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. It is for active, young adults 18 years and older who are interested in participating in recreational and social activities, while exploring and growing in understanding of the Catholic Faith. Friends of the Abbey Ministry – Reaches out to establish relationships and develop friendships with our lonely brothers and sisters in the Abbey Nursing Home in Warren (12 Mile between Hoover & Schoenherr). Legion of Mary – A lay apostolate of men and women composed of active and auxiliary members. Auxiliary members pray for the active members through the daily Rosary and Tessera. Midnight Riders FDC- The Midnight Riders was established in 1989 to create and perpetuate an appreciation for Early American martial and social music. The Corps is made up of musicians on fife, snare and bass drum and performs throughout the year. Our candidates are ages 12 and up, and no musical experience is necessary. Instruction and uniforms are provided, and members are expected to attend weekly rehearsals and contracted performances. Rehearsals are held every Sunday from 2:45 to 4:45 pm. Pro-Life Ministry – Informs parishioners about activities that help to defend human life from conception to natural death, supports existing pro-life organizations, offers various forms of participation in pro-life activities and coordinates them on a parish level. Quilt for the Needy Ministry- No previous sewing skills are required to join this friendly group that makes simple quilts to send to the needy both locally and internationally. Meeting times are to be determined. Contact: Kay Cameron, (586) 752-7991.
Rosary-Making Class – Learn how to make handmade knotted cord or plastic bead rosaries. Rosaries are prepared for missions or personal use. Meeting Time: Every Friday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm -- call Ben for location. Contact: Ben Drozdowski, (586) 323-1833
Rosary Society – A women’s group that prays together and organizes and/or helps at certain parish functions (e.g. parish festival, bake sales, salad luncheon, rummage sales, etc.). Also operates as Altar Society (decoration of church, sacristy, washing of altar linens, etc.). Meeting Time: 1st Saturday of each month in the Parish Hall, after the 9:00 am Holy Mass and Rosary. Social Work Ministry- Provides guidance, resources and help in the following areas: Older Adult issues, skilled home care questions, older parents having difficulty moving around independently, Medicare/Medicaid questions, Alzheimer’s Dementia, Individuals who are ill and homebound, How to care for your parent after coming home from a hospital or nursing home, not being able to afford prescriptions, individuals who need liquid nutrition, Family Caregiver issues, Substance abuse issues (alcoholism and/or other types of chemicals), Gambling Addiction, Depression, Anxiety, Individuals with no insurance for counseling and individuals who try to get their driver’s license back. St. Ambrose Catholic Political & Economic Discussion Group- Men and women interested in a discussion group regarding spiritual, moral, economic and political issues from a Catholic perspective. John Paul II Home Educators Support Group – Energetic home schooling support group for Catholic families that offers activities for all age groups. Offers a variety of classes- call for information. SLOVAK HERITAGE
Annual Slovak Festival – Enjoy the sights, sounds and customs of Slovakia at the Annual Slovak Festival held the last weekend in August. Festival features delicious traditional foods, drinks, music, costumes, singing and dancing, along with games of chance for the adults and games of fun for the children. Everyone is invited. Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima – Meets for the Rosary, Holy Mass, and Procession with the statue of Our Lady of Fatima and for spiritual discussions.

Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary (St. Louis-Marie de Montfort Method) – The spiritual program that our Holy Father, John Paul II, used to consecrate himself to Jesus through Mary. Holy Hour of Reparation on First Fridays/Sacred Heart of Jesus Devotion – The Sacred Heart of Jesus said to St. Margaret Mary, “Make reparation for the ingratitude of men. Holy Trinity Apostolate – Holy Trinity Apostolate is a lay organization, faithful to Holy Mother Church and obedient to the Magisterium, dedicated to bringing the “Splendor of Truth” of the Roman Catholic Church to light through the media of radio, television, conferences and other means of public communication as directed by Vatican Council II. Our Lady of Perpetual Help Devotion – Novena prayed to Mary, our most powerful helper before the throne of God. Her dignity of Mother of God, her ardent charity, and the fact that Jesus gave her to us as Mother, enable her to obtain for us through her intercession more than all the angels and saints can obtain. Pro-Life Rosary – This Rosary, dedicated to Pro-Life, starts with the Joyful, Luminous and Sorrowful mysteries before Mass and concludes with the Glorious mysteries after the Holy Mass. Meeting Time: Every Saturday morning at 8:00 am before 9:00 am Holy Mass.

Franciscan Way of Life- Attends the 7:00 pm Holy Mass the last Tuesday of every month and then meets to discuss formation about the Franciscan Way of Life. Contact: Larry Giroux, (248)585-0636
Touch of Mary Prayer Group – This group prays for the intentions of the Blessed Mother for the conversion of all Her children, reparation for all of our sins and for peace in our hearts, homes and the entire world. There is a homebound ministry for those who are unable to attend. The group meets at St. Lucy Parish, 200 East Wattles, Troy, Michigan on Wednesday. The Rosary begins at 6:15 pm with the Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries. Confession starts at 7:00 pm followed by the Holy Mass at 7:30 pm. The evening concludes with Benediction (including Consecration, Chaplet of the Divine Mercy, prayers for Priests and prayers for the poor souls in Purgatory) and fellowship.
